and Ware

Offered to all citizens on a demand/response basis
Requires 24 hour notification to schedule a ride
Transportation within local county and into neighboring counties throughout region
Public transit hours of operation are 7:30 am - 5:30 pm (Monday - Friday)

Just answer two questions to determine which South Georgia Transit Service best meets your needs.

Are you a Medicaid client that needs transportation to a medical appointment?

Changes in weather conditions may impact the safe transportation of clients with the Department of Human Services Coordinated Transportation Program. In the event of inclement weather when public schools are in session, cancellations of transportation services will be consistent with school closings. If the Governor declares a State of Emergency, cancellations of transportation services will be consistent with the areas included in the declaration. Please be sure to follow the SGRC’s Facebook page for updated information on site closures and transportation cancellations.

Transit Planning

The Southern Georgia Regional Commission, as requested by GDOT and the local governments, writes Transit Development Plans that look at starting new transit services or expanding on current services. These plans are used as a guide for local governments and public transit planners to provide transportation for thousands of riders throughout the region to have access to jobs, medical appointments, shopping, and other opportunities.

Public Notices for Transit

Southern Georgia Regional Transit will make reasonable modifications to policies, practices, or procedures when the modifications are necessary to avoid discrimination on the basis of disability or to provide program accessibility to its services, subject to the limitations of Federal Regulations 37.169(c)(1)-(3). Individuals requesting modifications to Southern Georgia Regional Transit’s service shall contact the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator and describe what they need in order to use the service. Individuals requesting modifications are not required to use the term “reasonable modification” when making a request.

SGRC DBE Program

Is your business a Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE) and are you interested in learning about bidding opportunities from many state agencies? Once you are a certified DBE you may be eligible for DBE supportive services from the Georgia Department of Transportation. These supportive services may include training for marketing, accounting, estimating, business and contract management, and bid preparation. Visit the GDOT DBE Programs page for more information.
